June 2006 - CSEC PhD student receives the J. C. Jamieson award

CSEC PhD student receives the J. C. Jamieson award (June 2006). School of Physics and Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions PhD student Lars F. Lundegaard has been awarded the 2006 J.C. Jamieson award “for an outstanding student in the field of high pressure research” at 2006 Gordon Research Conference on “Research at High Pressure”. He received the award for technical developments of the high-pressure single-crystal x-ray diffraction techniques combined with synchrotron radiation (SRS Daresbury and ESRF Grenoble). These technical developments have recently enabled the structure solution of the high pressure epsilon phase of pure oxygen [Nature 443, 201-204 (14 September 2006)].
