ERC Starting Grant for Dr Chrystele Sanloup (June 2011). Chrystele Sanloup been awarded a 5-year European Research Council Starting Grant for a programme of research on 'Magmas at Depth: an Experimental Study at Extreme Conditions', with the value of €1.35M. The programme, anchored on in situ studies of silicate liquids at high pressure, aims at answering questions relevant to the presence of magmas at depth, whether that be in the present Earth or in its earliest times, during differentiation of the planet. Success in this highly competitive Europe-wide award has allowed Chrystele to make a welcome return to CSEC, and she is now based in the School of Physics.
