Dr. Mark de Vries is appointed a lecturer in School of Chemistry (September 2011). Welcome to Mark de Vries, who recently rejoined CSEC and the School of Chemistry to work on the development of tuneable materials, in which small stimuli or changes can have dramatic effects on the electronic and magnetic states of the system, either at room temperature or at (effectively) 0 K. The focus will be on metal-insulator transitions in 4d 5d transition metal compounds.
