November 2025 — Ayobami Daramola wins Metallurgy and Materials Award

Congratulations to Dr. Ayobami Daramola on being awarded the Prix Jacques Dalla Torre of the French Society for Metallurgy and Materials in recognition of his contributions towards improving our understanding of materials' properties by means of atomistic modelling.

During his PhD studies done jointly at Mines de Saint-Etienne and CNRS in France, with additional support from energy company EDF, Ayobami focused on the development of interatomic potentials for high entropy alloys, and subsequent analysis of defect behavior and plastic deformation mechanisms at the dislocation scale. Following on, Ayobami joined his current position at CSEC to work on the development of AIASSE, a hybrid methodology and software package that enables self-consistent refinement of total scattering data using atomistic Monte Carlo methods and first-principles quantum mechanical calculations as enabled by Density Functional Theory.
