On 30th April 2024 we celebrated our annual Erskine Williamson Day and the 20th Anniversary of the Inauguration of CSEC with a series of talks from CSEC staff and students as well as invited speakers: Stefan Klotz (Paris), Sandro Scandolo (Trieste) and Laura Spagnolo (Glasgow).
On 17th April 2023, we reinstated and celebrated our annual Erskine Williamson Day, after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A series of talks was given by CSEC staff, postdocs and students from the Schools of Chemistry, Engineering, GeoSciences, and Physics and Astronomy.
Congratulations to Dr Dominique Laniel on being awarded a UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Leaders Fellowship.
The Conference on Science at Extreme Conditions, CSEC-2021, was held online from 26 to 30 July 2021. It was organised in cooperation between CSEC researchers and the Institute of Physics (IOP).
Congratulations to Dr Stewart McWilliams who has been awarded a European Research Council Consolidator Grant.

Prof. Charles Cockell is Professor of Astrobiology in CSEC and the School of Physics and Astronomy.
Chrystele Sanloup is a Visiting Professor, Malcolm Guthrie is an Honorary Fellow, and Andrew Harrison is an Honorary Professorial Fellow.
Chrystele Sanloup was an ERC Fellow in CSEC, and she has recently moved to a Professorship at the Universite P. et M. Curie in Paris.

Two CSEC members from the School of Physics - Dr Chris Stock and Dr Ingo Loa - have been awarded prestigious Chancellor's Fellowships. Ingo Loa has been also appointed to a Readership.
Dr Stephen Moggach wins the 2012 European High-Pressure Research Group Award for his work on metal-organic frameworks. The prize was presented at the 50th EHPRG meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece.
